Sambal Udang Recipe




Ingredients:
8-10 dried red chillies
1 onion
1 tsp belacan ( shrimp paste )
2 cloves of garlic
6 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp tamarind juice
1 lbs prawn
3 tbsp tomato sauce

Method:
1.Soak dried red chillies in water at least about 1 hour or overnight is better.
2.Chop garlic and onion coarsely.
3.Put chillies,garlic,onion,salt,sugar,tomato sauce and belacan in food processor.Process it into a smooth paste.Then set aside.
4.Peel,devein and wash the prawn.Pat it dry.

5.In a wok or frying pan,put vegetable oil over a high-heat.When the oil is hot,add the chilli paste and stir.Fry it until it's fragrant and the sauce is thicken.
6.Then add the prawn.Stir it for about 1 minute.Lower the heat and add tamarind juice.Stir-fry for about 5 minutes or until the shrimp are cooked.Add salt or sugar according to your taste.
Ready to serve.
